PETALING JAYA -The 7th Residential College of University of Malaya organized Festival Za'ba (FEZBA) from 7th April to 10th April at the parking lot shared by the 3rd, 4th, and 7th Residential Colleges.

In regards to the Food Fiesta there were about 21 stalls selling varieties of food ranging from local, to Western and Japanese cuisine in the food fiesta such as Golden Takoyaki, Churrostime, Japanese Oden, Bombolini Queen, Roma Pizza, Nasi Kukus Mak Jemah, Oden Tomyam, and many more.

Food Fiesta, Karoks Corner and Za’ba Investigator were the main events that were promoted in this festival.

Karoks Corner was an open karaoke for students and Za’ba Investigator was a mysterious murder case where students had to form a team and find out who the identity of the actual murderer.

Three sensational Malaysian singers, Eleena Harris, Rief Daniel, and Hez Hazmi were invited for the closing ceremony. The celebrities gave splendid performances that were a spotlight for FEZBA 2019.

Director of FEZBA 2019, Amir Mubarak Mahadzir, 24, said that there were more vendors compared to last year’s FEZBA, all selling a variety of food and for this year they even have food trucks.

“The hot-selling food at FEZBA this year is ‘Ayam PUBG’. PUBG is one of the most popular games currently.Hence, the stall’s name itself attracts attention from the visitors to try their food. This stall has been viral on Instagram and gaining fame day by day. I believe that’s one of the reasons why people were queuing to buy this meal,” he said.

Amir also said Jalen, which was a stall selling sweet and salty soy sauce among a few other condiments, managed to get the attention of students by giving out free products from their stall.

Sharmila, 25, a student and resident of 3rd RC who attended the FEZBA shared her experience, saying “I wasn't particularly excited about the event because I felt like it was just another event. But everything changed when I first walked into the stalls. It was amazing! Kudos to the crew that made the event a great success”.

Tan Mei Ling, 21, from 7th RC said “I am lucky to witness the atmosphere of enthusiasm and joyfulness of FEZBA, and I am grateful that I can try a variety of new dishes other than just the same dishes that they sell in the college café.”

This festival had a huge and positive response from the students, not only from 7th Residential College students but also from students of other Residential Colleges and even from people not staying within the university campus.

All in all, the Festival ZA’BA (FEZBA) 2019 definitely garnered a favourable outcome due to the huge number of students who went to the festival throughout the four days.
