KUALA LUMPUR - Petrosains attracted visitors with their theme for the event: a throwback to the 90s in order to revisit past science and tech marvels, discuss present-day favourites and peek into what might develop in the future on 27th March 2019.

The event was conducted from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., where attendees get to experience all the activities that were conducted by the Petrosains team at KLCC. However, doors were opened as early as 5.45 p.m. for the attendees.

The intended audience is for youths but parents with small children also attended the event, as well as college and university students.

The activities are spread out into zones, where attendees have the freedom to pick and choose which activities or science shows they want to experience.

Some of the zones that sparked interests among the attendees are Zone 1 (Digital Storytelling), Zone 2 (Science Shows and Showcases @ Sparkz) and Zone 5 (DIORAMA Tour).

In Zone 1, visitors got hands-on experience with stop-motion using clay. They experienced how it would be like to become a director of famous stop-motion movies, such as Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.

Many of the children were captivated by Zone 2 (Science Shows and Showcases). There, two science shows were held at the event, which are Cryogenic Science Show and Persistence of Vision (3D Hologram) and IoT Show.

Zone 5, the DIORAMA Tour, gave the visitors a feast for their eyes where attendees got to experience the new surroundings of Petrosains. The towering dinosaur figures were given new life, and a brand-new bridge, which spanned across the dinosaur figures, gave attendees a thrill when they cross it.

There were also Industry Talks given by various people with extensive knowledge regarding the industry. Welcoming Remarks were given by Fedora Zulkifli, the Chief Executive Officer of Petrosains.

One of the visitors, Nur Shahira Binti Ahmad, 24, a University of Malaya student, said she enjoyed the activities presented by Petronas. “My favourite activity was when there was a demonstration about the light spectrum. It was fun and they helped us to understand the science concepts by giving us hands-on experience.”

Nadhrah Athirah Johan, 21, a University of Malaya student, mentioned that the activities definitely helped in giving the participants exposure towards science knowledge and activities. “The industry talks given by the speakers made me feel mesmerized. One of the talks, which discussed about cashless shopping by Amazon was really interesting.”

The event was a success as it succeeded to attract a considerable number of visitors. It seems that Malaysians are also eager to experience the nostalgia of past technologies and want to cultivate the love of learning about scientific knowledge for their children and youth as well.
